Schedule:
Taal Lake Yacht Club’s core racing program is monthly racing every Second Sunday of the month. There is an official Notice Of Race (NOR) HERE, but just remember, Its every second Sunday of the month, almost without exception. We usually have between 8 and 15 Hobie 16s, and smaller boats come out to practice.
Wind:
The Easterly “Amihan” blows from November thru April. The Best racing is November and December, with wind really blowing in January and February. March and April usually have nice wind as well.
In May the wind is usually light and a not steady.
The “Habagat” or Westerly wind comes In June or July, and lasts through September or October.
The Club Championship (Click HERE) is comprised of the races from May through October.
Classes:
The Hobie 16 is the primary racing class, but if there are other classes that have 3 or more boats, we will generally set up a start for them, and award prizes.
We also have “Practice” for other boats that want to sail, or practice starting together, if there is enough interest. There are no awards or placing for the “practice” but they have their own start and a simple course.
Cost:
As of January 2014 it costs P500 to race a 2 person boat, and P350 for a one person boat, regardless of whether you are racing or practicing. The entry fee includes open bar for an hour on local drinks after the racing, and that is when the awards are held.
Sailing Instructions:
